Our super talented friend, Joyce, insisted we must try kekou gelato if we get a chance. Voila! What a coincidence we just so happened to walk by one after lunch! What I love about this gelato place is that it has Asian-influenced flavours!

(By the way: we tried kekou gelato not kekou gelato house)

Presentation:                    3.3/5

We didn’t get the sugar cone (because we were too full LOL). So perhaps it may have looked more impressive? I still have to go based on the PHACTS criteria page, so it lost points on not being the very creative or complex. However, we like the simplicity of it and that it is well put together. The little fortune cat with the moustache is so cute! Also, while the transparent blue spoon is simple, it definitely adds to the overall effect of a relaxed, airy look (we’re so bad at describing but we’re working on it! -pulls out thesaurus).

Health:                                  4.7/5

This is the most unique part of this place is that it does not use stabilizers. Basically stabilizers in gelato help with the creaminess of it, but many stabilizers can have some negative effects on your body when consumed in large amounts. I think this place would be great for people who are really fastidious about what ingredients make up their food.

Overall, I would say gelato is healthier than your regular ice cream due to less fat content and less use of egg yolks.

I also love how this place does not have neon-coloured gelato, so you know there’s no artificial colouring. The gelato also does not overflow the tub, which usually is an indication there’s a lot of air in the process of making the gelato to give it that structure. And that’s not what you want.

Later on we found this sign! Glad I’m not just randomly guessing stuff. Maybe I can be a food connoisseur hmm.. hopeful dreams ><"

Atmosphere/location: 5/5

This place is super easy to get to, you can walk to it, or take a street car nearby to get to it.! And from the looks of it parking shouldn’t be too bad (but don’t take it from us~).

Kekou gelato has a fun, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. There’s actually palm trees inside! It’s fun, with a nice pastel, turquoise blue walls. It is definitely instagram-worthy 😉

Cost:                                  4.5/5

I think this is a good deal! Yummy, fresh and one scoop for $3.75? Many other places tend to go higher than that!

Nancy: 4.2 (She says: In this economy? Hell yeah it’s a good deal).

Taste:                                5/5

I Loved it! Just wish it had more elasticity like the traditional gelatos and maybe more rose flavour, but that’s just me being picky hehe. If I had to describe this flavour, imagine eating a pistachioo macaron with a hint of rosewater. The texture is actually quite fun in this no-stabilizer added gelato. It’s like biting into a macaron!

Service:                              4/5
Friendly and cute servers! They helped explain some of the stabilizers to us and put up with us trying out a bunch of flavours (Don’t judge, it was really hard to choose D:)
