Just a Lot of Cupcakes. Enjoy!

Oh December, the month filled with lots of Christmas parties to go to~ AND the one time of the year where I find myself doing the most baking and dessert-making only to give it away because I don’t really like eating sweets (except candy haha).  :p

So, the other week I was talking to my friend Clinton about how I’d love to get the chance to only decorate desserts– no mess and no fuss in all the baking time and hand mixing and being tired by the time you get to decorating– just. pure fun. decorating.

And I really have such amazing friends because… bless Clinton. He made 24 cupcakes and called us over to decorate!!!

It’s my first time getting to use piping materials and FONDANT (thank you Alex for getting us beautiful fondant) to decorate. You’ll… kind of see how we started to get a bit tired throughout the night. But I think we kind of redeemed ourselves near the end (???).

Clinton made dinner for us! Some nice pad thai, it was his first time making it, not bad!

PC084064.JPG

I brought some things for us to decorate the cupcakes with! It’s honestly a lot of Halloween candy. But this one in particular was from Japan! Do you remember those small star candy in spirited away?!

PC084070.JPG

Can you guess what there is?! There’s actually some crushed cinnamon bark and sugar cane sugar. You guys need to check Clinton’s place out, he’s super prepared and fancy :p.

PC084095.JPG

I got to try my Daiso piping tools for the first time! I also spent the longest time on this cupcake and probably most of my energy for that day too XD.

PC084100.JPG

Orange zest with Clinton’s first time piping his nicely made buttercream on top.

PC084104.JPG

I actually can’t remember if this is nutmeg on top mixed with some ground almond and cinnamon.

PC084108.JPG

Clinton spent a beautiful amount of time on this super adorable snowman. Totally worth it, can you guess what candy is on top of his head?!

PC084118.JPG

I got lazy in cutting it out prettily… Be prepared I got lazier as the night got older.

PC084126.JPG

Alex made this cute little… animal? 😀

PC094130.JPG

I wanted to try out the other tips for piping, and it was just meh, so I tried to save it by marshmallow petals… yeah..

PC094137.JPG

OKAY. I CAN EXPLAIN. It’s not a cigarette okay?! It was supposed to be a cookie monster but I couldn’t find a cookie, so that’s a lollipop. LOLLIPOP.

PC094143.JPG

This reminds me of Majora’s mask for some odd reason. Basically the story behind this cupcake is that I messed up pretty badly because of this ugly colour I made for the buttercream, but I think i covered it up pretty nicely eh?

PC094146.JPG

It looked a lot pretty in real life. Loved the smashed watermelon lollipop mmmMmmm.

PC094153.JPG

Clinton made an owl!! He’s mighty cute haha.

PC094154.JPG

Just a simple wreath. (Clinton couldn’t tell what it was D:)

PC094164.JPG

Yes I didn’t post up all of them, but let’s end it off with this super cute mini cupcake on a cupcake! :D. I wish it had a tiny cherry on the top instead.

Rolling my way into the New Year….

New Year’s Resolution: I need more posts!!

Let it Snow ♪ Let it Snow ♪… Let Eat Snow?

Hello Hello! A short and sweet post again 🙂

Let eat snow.JPG

I first came here to treat my family as it was Squirt’s birthday (it was actually within the first week they were open)! It was okay when we went, but I feel like they have improved a lot since then!

Nana and I came here again just to satisfy our sweet tooth before heading to our friend’s place. What did we try?!

Let eat snow 15.JPG

So I actually asked the server for the cutest item on their menu but they couldn’t come up with a response. Luckily I saw someone order this and I knew I had to get it!

Let eat snow 10.JPG

Presenting the mint white chocolate drink! I’d have to say it’s like any other white chocolate drink… I definitely wish it was hotter and that they filled up the cup with the drink more… at least to let the let eat snow logo show up better on the cup! (I know, I know… I feast with my eyes okay?? :P) I know they let you drink it with a straw, so maybe that’s why they made the drink cooler. But maybe they could’ve made it a tad bit warmer hehe.

AND MORE SPRINKLES. I NEED SPRINKLES haha.

Let eat snow 3.JPG

You know what Nana got?! This super yummy Bubble Bing Earl Grey Milk tea Latte. I’m not too sure if this really counts as a latte… it reminds me of bubble tea hehe.

What’s nice is that you get your bingsu fix at the top and a drink! The “pearls” at the bottom is super yummy! It reminded Nana and I of grass jelly, but a more gelatinous version of it.

Cravings satisfied! Next time I really want to try more of their waffles and mochi cheese pizza!

Make sure to check out the Edmonton tab for reviews on restaurants!

Nomiya Memories

Today, I didn’t feel like going home for some reason. It was also dinnertime after work so I decided to go find something to eat. Problem is when I don’t specifically crave anything I spend forever wondering what to eat (I even pulled out my list of places to try out but I wasn’t in the mood for it).

But not long after driving, I found myself in front of Nomiya (the one by Ellerslie). If I had to compare, I think I liked the noodles at the Calgary Trail side more.

I came at the right time during their happy hour! It’s basically deals on some appetizers like chicken karaage.

P5310064.JPG

I had a friend that used to work here and I’d make the excuse to come here as much as my wallet would allow (poor uni kid life). Plus I’d often suggest this place when my friends ask where to go to eat hehe.

That friend and I would go out to eat the bento boxes here, so as part of nostalgia I guess I ordered one! The karaage didn’t taste as good as it used to :'(.

P5310065.JPG

If I had to try and pinpoint what I didn’t like about the chicken was that it was dry– like the chewy kind of dry.

P5310066.JPG

I realized as I was slowly eating that it gets kind of lonely. So I attempted to talk to the sushi chef, inquiring about some of the fish he had in the display. Nope. He definitely didn’t want to talk never mind carry a conversation with me.

Luckily there was a cute waiter that would check up on me every so often?

Eventually do you know who kept me company for a bit? A nice mom that came by to drop food for her son working at Nomiya haha.

P5310068.JPG

There was this one sushi chef that worked at Nomiya that I absolutely loved. He carried this warm smile and was just super friendly. And whenever I came by with my friend, he’ll make sure to give some nicer pieces or extra treats :). He’s like the grandpa I never had. So cute!

Before I left, the waiter gave me like 2 handfuls of the mikilta candy!! THAT made me super happy ahaha.

And just like that, there goes another day~

Just an average day.
