What’s your comfort food?

The weather’s getting colder and it made me think back to when we went out searching for something warm to fill up our bellies. WE ORDERED TOO MUCHHHH.

Let’s learn some chinese! 眼阔肚窄 yan3kuo4du4zhai3. In cantonese we say it a bit differently, but direct translation turns into big eyes, small stomach. Does that give a hint?! Basically feasting with your eyes and forgetting how much the stomach can actually hold :p. We usually say the phrase after we’ve ordered wayyy too much and can’t finish.

I guess the problem is that we always seem to have these cravings later in the night. Luckily Hong Kong 852 (used to be Cafe de Tropika) is open late!

Simple but yummy dish. Sliced beef balls with udon noodles! For some reason, I absolutely love the texture of udon… I can eat packs and packs of it with only soy sauce (not good ahaha). This dish was slightly saltier than I like though.

Hot sweet and sour soup!! Our absolute favourite, but out of all places we tried we still think the best one is at Shanghai 456 haha.

I first tried this on my second time to Hong Kong 852. A really kind family took me here and soon after I fell in love with it! Anyone who has ever came here with me knows I always liked to order this. A beautiful puff pastry sealing a fragrant lobster bisque inside!!! SO YUMMY!

Ah! Thousand year old egg and salted pork congee. I still have yet a chance to try and make it! You usually use duck or chicken eggs to preserve it and then it takes a combination of lime, ash, clay, and rice hulls to make it. It should take around 4-5 weeks. It has a creamy texture on the inside and on some eggs you can see beautiful snowflake-like patterns on it!

The Hong Kong style curry beef brisket is a common dish I’d get. Though I wish it was more piping hot when it came out! Mom often scolds me because it’s not necessarily the healthiest dish to always eat.

This borsch soup came with the curry beef brisket. It’s just a nice vegetable soup. The price is really good though ($14) for soup and a dish.

That’s it for today!!!

Day 6 Harmony of the Seas Cruise Trip

LAND HO to Cozumel, Mexico! This was our first time seeing so many other cruise ships around us. It made us realize just how BIG our ship was compared to the others! Well… I guess ours is the biggest in the world for now haha). Everyone else from the other ships even started taking pictures of our ship haha.

Can you spot Justin in our photo?

IMG_6510.JPG

I think this was by far the most action-packed day! Our shore excursion was called Jeep to Punta Sur Eco-park! We got to drive our own jeeps!!! Luckily Brenton knew how to drive a manual. The radio was busted and all the warning lights were on in the car. But hey, nonetheless we made it in one piece!

Beach outfit ready!

IMG_6521.JPG

First stop we went snorkeling!!! Sorry no photos T^T. I also forgot to wear my contacts that day… but surprisingly I can see underwater?? So many cute fish! Nancy saw an octopus!

IMG_6552.JPG

We wanted to go faster but the person in front of us drove pretty slow… 😛

IMG_6602.JPG

The crocodiles were so close to us eeek!

IMG_6704.JPG

Later on we climbed up the lighthouse! The day was really rushed and we didn’t get to try the organic tequila (apparently it’s impossible to get drunk from it).

IMG_6688.JPG

Love the ocean. The water here was A LOT saltier and the sand was not as nice as labadee’s…

IMG_6741.JPG

Ahh~ Finished the day off with le coconut. Wish it was cold though 😦

IMG_6781.JPG

As we were getting in the elevator to head back to our rooms before dinner started we saw this! This guy usually plays the piano in one of the decks outside leading to the aquatheatre.

IMG_6783.JPG

Whoa! That’s lopsided haha.

IMG_6787.JPG

I feel like these two had great bonding time :3 huehue.

IMG_6786.JPG

We bonded a lot too. Especially over those late night movies ;).

IMG_6795.JPG

The breaded shrimp was nice but the coleslaw was… ahahah.

IMG_6798.JPG

This is totally not how I expected the colour or corn soup to be. but I actually really enjoyed this, the corn wasn’t sweet though but I like herbs and spices!

Pan-seared filet of sole. IMG_6801.JPG

Lasagna Al Forno. It had 3 layers with lots of meat and marinara. Not bad, I just wish it was less salty.

IMG_6804.JPG

Oh lookey, I remembered to take the dessert menu  for once! All nights had pretty much the same dessert options.

IMG_6806.JPG

The red velvet cheesecake. Nancy says it was moist and yummy.

IMG_6809.JPG

I was quite disappointed in the chocolate lava cake, because it wasn’t even lava cake 😦 I had prepared for the oozing out of warm chocolate too…

Afterwards Nancy went back to her room and the guys went on a lovely date somewhere. I don’t know why but I went for a stroll along this track the ship had that was half indoor and half outdoor… strangely this time the waves and the dark didn’t scare me. It was surprisingly really relaxing and calming.

Almost the end… nuu 😦
