Let it Snow ♪ Let it Snow ♪… Let Eat Snow?

Hello Hello! A short and sweet post again 🙂

Let eat snow.JPG

I first came here to treat my family as it was Squirt’s birthday (it was actually within the first week they were open)! It was okay when we went, but I feel like they have improved a lot since then!

Nana and I came here again just to satisfy our sweet tooth before heading to our friend’s place. What did we try?!

Let eat snow 15.JPG

So I actually asked the server for the cutest item on their menu but they couldn’t come up with a response. Luckily I saw someone order this and I knew I had to get it!

Let eat snow 10.JPG

Presenting the mint white chocolate drink! I’d have to say it’s like any other white chocolate drink… I definitely wish it was hotter and that they filled up the cup with the drink more… at least to let the let eat snow logo show up better on the cup! (I know, I know… I feast with my eyes okay?? :P) I know they let you drink it with a straw, so maybe that’s why they made the drink cooler. But maybe they could’ve made it a tad bit warmer hehe.

AND MORE SPRINKLES. I NEED SPRINKLES haha.

Let eat snow 3.JPG

You know what Nana got?! This super yummy Bubble Bing Earl Grey Milk tea Latte. I’m not too sure if this really counts as a latte… it reminds me of bubble tea hehe.

What’s nice is that you get your bingsu fix at the top and a drink! The “pearls” at the bottom is super yummy! It reminded Nana and I of grass jelly, but a more gelatinous version of it.

Cravings satisfied! Next time I really want to try more of their waffles and mochi cheese pizza!

Make sure to check out the Edmonton tab for reviews on restaurants!

With Late Nights, You can always count on Tomo!

I forgot to bring my camera guys!!! Nuuu, I should just always bring it (knowing how spontaneous I can get sometimes :p)

Justin came up from Calgary and as tradition we do our last-minute meet-up. This happened on a Sunday late at night, like 10 pm. It always starts with “What should we do?” and then follows up with “Where should we go?” So we end up going to IZAKAYA TOMO, because you can always count on them opening till late!!

Justin pouring Tomo’s “pure” water (they sell this). When I asked them what would make their water better than Edmonton’s tap water (which is one of the cleanest and safest waters to drink by the way), they said it’s filtered more. With more probing they said it’s drinking soft water, so it has less calcium…

Oh my goodness, they had toro in the house!!! TOMO IS ALWAYS OUT OF TORO EVERYTIME I COME HERE. Well, except for this other time… But I was so excited they had it, MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH.

IMG_1324.JPG

If I had my camera, you would see the glisten even clearer. All that fatty goodness bursting with flavour~

IMG_1317.JPG

Justin ordered some seaweed salad (so healthy). Not my cup of tea in terms of taste, BUT it is good for you so I would recommend it if you want to be healthy~

IMG_1318.JPG

Justin got some sashimi~ That IKA, SO FRESH. It reminded me of the ones from Tsukiji market. So creamy and sweet.

IMG_1314.JPG

This looks kind of strange but it’s… -drum roll-… BRUSSEL SPROUTS! Yes I know, it is kind of strange to order brussel sprouts at a Japanese restaurant. But believe me when I say they make some gooood brussel sprouts. It has a nice grilled outer layer, and the vinegary sauce with that parmesan cheese (I think it’s that, it’s a pretty sharp tasting cheese) makes a perfect combination. For anyone who doesn’t like brussel sprouts, they should definitely try this. (let me know if it changed your mind)

IMG_1326.JPG

I decided to be more adventurous and go try a new dessert~ The crispy honey bread served with vanilla ice cream and a coffee bean powder dusted on top. THIS IS HELLA GOOD. But very fried and not the healthiest haha (but oh well). It has a nice crispy crunch with a perfect amount of sweetness in the bread. I’m also a sucker for warm and cold contrasting desserts, so the warm bread and cold ice cream made it so yummy. Plus the coffee in there helped your taste buds take a break from an overload of just sweet honey.

Let’s end this post by another look at this beautiful toro. Look at the cut!

Love. Mish.

Is it bad I’m already ready for the next long weekend?… XD

Beautiful Guilty Pleasures. Ah. Chocolate.

So during our Toronto trip we were walking around kensington market in the morning to see what cool stuff (especially food) there was. Note.. do not go early in the morning because many places weren’t even open yet.

We walked around and found a shady looking TD atm machine place. This space could only really fit one person. It was perfect, because I really needed to withdraw some money out. AND BOY AM I GLAD I DID.

BECAUSE. Low and behold do you know what we stumbled upon?! CXBO (Chocolates x Brandon Olsen). I heard of them first through instagram a while back and I saw they made these beautiful disco eggs. You’ll see as you scroll down how beautifully-made the chocolates are. Truly, little tiny works of art in each one!

chocolates fix.jpg

CXBO is owned by chef and chocolatier, Brandon Olsen, and artist Sarah Keenlyside! I would love to be able to see the process in how they make these one day!

So… I kind of waited around a week or so for our girl’s night to eat the chocolates. Clearly truffles don’t last very long (it started crumbling). But it was very soft and it’s still bit more on the sweeter side for me but creamy and yummy!

I’m sad I forgot to bring my camera to take these, but thanks Nana for letting me use your camera!

chocolates 3 fix.jpg

This is just beautiful! And arguably one of the most expensive chocolate I ever bought for the quantity I was getting (around $3-4 a piece?). But it’s about quality (amirite??). Though, I’m not a chocolate expert or anything so this is just based on pure personal preference (well all 4 of us tried it and we pretty much had similar, if not the same, kind of conclusion.

chocolates 8.JPG

First of all I must point out it comes in the cutest box. I wonder if they hand make each printed design on it?

chocolates 6.JPG

From this list, can you already tell which ones would be a hit or miss for you?

From this I was really interested in the:

  1. Raspberry, rose, fennel
  2. Yuzu, sake
  3. orange blossom, honey
  4. pistachio, orange, bergamot

Though I think we were all interested in the same ones. Thank you to Nancy though because she particularly likes salted caramel, so that helped in the choosing of who eats which one (that’s the biggest dilemma). Though we kinda tried to split LOL.

chocolates 9.JPG

I can’t even remember who tried which. But Lisa, Kelly, Nana and I think the orange blossom was the best one. It’s like biting into flowers!!! Okay, let me redo that. It didn’t sound as appetizing. Um… it’s just such a light and fragrant scent, I’m not too sure how to describe it. A light floral sweetness? I think that sounds better.

chocolates 4.JPG

The yuzu one was kind of disappointing. We were hoping for something more citrusy like the yuzu itself.

I always wondered what kind of palate you’d need to distinguish the “better” chocolate from the “okay”?

It’s a very special and meaningful day/evening/night for me and I was really glad to have these girls meet each other as they are my absolute favourites ❤

chocolates 12

My fashionable ladies~ Even on a chill day haha. Oh and yes it was kind of chilly that day too.

Do you know where we’re walking to.. CAN YOU GUESS?!

chocolates 15.JPG

I clearly didn’t get the memo haha.

chocolates 14.JPG

You’ve probably guessed it by now. We went to explore the Edmonton “beach!”

Making meaningful memories~
