24. Osha Thai Noodle Cafe
IMPORTANT: There’s Osha Express, Osha Thai Restaurant & Lounge, and Osha Thai Noodle Cafe. So just to clarify, I went to the Thai Noodle Cafe! How did I happen upon this place? Well, the weather was kind of chilly and I had already walked for a couple hours before I stopped to talk to this man that recommended me to Osha!
Presentation: 4.5/5
The plating for the food is beautiful and I love the pops of colour! I feel like they could’ve used some chopped up green lettuce or coleslaw underneath the rangoon, there’s just something off but it is still eye-catching! (Keep scrolling to see the other pictures!)
Health: 4.3/5
They have some vegetarian-friendly dishes that sounds so good! Their service is really good too so I think they’d be a bit accommodating if you try asking for them to take out the meats in some dishes (but keep in mind it probably wouldn’t change the price though). I ordered fried food so it’s not the healthiest, but I always enjoy how a lot of their dishes will include some veggies!
Atmosphere/location: 4.3/5
I didn’t really see too much parking around here allowed but it is convenient and within San Francisco’s downtown, so it is a great place to add as one of your stops! It’s on the corner of the street so you really can’t miss it!
There’s a sleek, modern feel to this place. I like how many parts of the place is so aesthetically pleasing! From the hanging air plants, marble-looking tables… I’m really loving how minimalist it is, because once the food comes, our eyes are drawn even more to the colours that Thai food has to offer!
And look at the chairs!! So different and unique! (I know… horrible photos :[ )
As for the space, it seems pretty big, there’s kind of two sections, the left side is a nice cafe-like style and atmosphere, whereas the right side has more bigger tables for a restaurant feeling. I feel like a 20 person event can fit here for sure.
Cost: 4.5/5
Be aware that in San Francisco there is a sales tax of around 8.5%, and in many restaurants they do a surcharge (sometimes called SF Mandate). This SF mandate will help pay for employees’ insurance, sick days etcetera. In this case, OSHA had mentioned a 2.5% charge that is added right on their menu!
I honestly felt with the quality of the food (I mean I ordered crab too!) and it was super filling (I had to pack it up and ate the rest for another meal), I think it’s a good price.
Taste: 4.8/5
Osha Crab Rangoon
This item on the menu really caught my eye because it has a cream cheese and crab filling. Cheese is a very uncommon ingredient in Southeast Asian cuisine!
The filling is full of cheesy goodness and crab meat. I have to say that while the shape is very pretty, it is difficult to eat a bite where I can get the filling and fried wonton wrapper bit at the same time. I like how they provided some sweet Thai sauce, some places don’t do that. The fried noodle bits underneath taste like unflavoured popcorn – pretty nostalgic for me as they tend to place this underneath more fancy Asian dishes.
Look at the insides! Oh I just want to taste this again!
Osha Tom Yum Noodle

That’s fried garlic on the spoon! You mix this in!
The noodles had absorbed the flavours of the soup as well! I’m wondering if they soaked the noodles in some kefir lime water?
The shrimp is cooked right, not too tough and not too raw. The texture is like biting into a lobster claw.
Service: 5/5
I was greeted very warmly right from the moment I walked in! After I sat down for a bit, the waiter came to move me to another table because they said it was unstable. The waiter even asked me if I wanted the appetizer to come out first or altogether. I just think they were very attentive and would notice right before I wanted to ask them something. I don’t know about you guys but it means a lot to know they are always watching to make sure their customers are doing okay!
