I was exploring around when I spotted a BIG sign that had GUDETAMA CAFE on it!! I knew I had to go! My local language exchange buddy, Keita, was not intimidated by the cuteness overload and joined me!
“Gude-Gudetama, Gude-Gudetama, Gude-gude-gude–gude-gudetama~”
Presentation: 5/5
This is by far one of the best plated dishes at these pop-up cafes I have ever gotten! There were no drips of sauces on the side of the plates, the faces and the decorative cards were carefully placed. The food was so cute I was squealing like a little kid while taking pictures!
Health: 4/5
It is hard to judge how healthy it is, but none of the meals were really oily. As per usual there is not many vegetables, and there is at least two things that vegetarians would be able to order on the menu! The dessert was not super sweet or sugary either!

Beautiful lighting and we were right next to the ferris wheel!
Atmosphere/location: 5/5
It was in downtown, right inside Sunshine Sakae where the SKE48 & AKB48 girls and ferris wheel is! I think they did an excellent job of decorating, making sure to not leave white space that was not covered by cuteness. Their entrance had small trees that were decorated with gudetama plushies as well. I felt this place made a more privatized feeling than the Rilakkuma one! It was spacious with big open windows to let in that glorious light!
Relaxed feeling with the same gudetama song playing nonstop (luckily our brains tend to tune things out or else I might have gone a bit crazy).
Here’s my crazy story of the day: I experienced my first earthquake here! The whole building was swaying and I was super worried. I asked Keita, “What’s happening? The floor is moving, why is it moving? What’s happening?!” and he calmly responded with “I think it’s just an earthquake.” Imagine that! Here you have an asian girl panicking, while everyone is calmly going about their own business! All I could think was “Is this part of the Gudetama experience?” Ahahaha.
Cost: 4/5
Compared to other cafes, this is by far one of the cheapest ones for a nicely sized meal I have ever seen. The taste was good and it was filling!

Taste: 4.5/5
–Halloween curry rice: I was pleasantly surprised to find the gudetama itself was curry flavoured mashed potatoes. The texture was very soft. You get some bacon, steamed broccoli and some french fries. But the most intriguing was the black curry! I am still debating whether they used squid ink as there doesn’t seem to be that depth or unctuous, rich flavour. But there was a nicely rounded sweetness to the curry. Good rice-to-sauce ratio too.

–Tenshindon: This is a Japanese-Chinese speciality originating from TianJin, Northern China. It is a crab meat omelette on rice! To be honest it was my first time trying this so I do not really have any other reference. I wish the sweet sauce was a bit more viscous, but the seafood flavour was apparent at least! Nonetheless this was really tasty and light.

This was a broth, it kind of just tasted like watered down chicken broth to be honest. Topped off with the wafer thing.

–Pumpkin Parfait: The pumpkin ice cream and cake had some pumpkin spice and was not very sweet. I personally liked it very much as it went well with the sweeter chocolate cake pieces at the bottom. You have the crunch, the cream, some mintiness, and dark chocolate pocky!!

You get a syringe full of a salted caramel syrup to squeeze on top too! Weee~ (maybe when I get premium wordpress I can upload the videos T^T)
Service: 4/5
The food came much faster than other cafe places, but that could be because there weren’t many other people eating. We had to wait a bit to try and find staff to get in our orders, to get our drinks refilled, and to get the bill. So that’s where the service is a bit lower.
Michelle made gudetama into hedgehog. Michelle do not usually play with food >w<“.
I LOVE GUDETAMAAAAA.
