My friends are such models haha!

The second Poke place to open in Edmonton and we went for the grand opening! Compared to the other Poke place, Ono Poke has a lot of new surprise creations to let you try! Always keeping the menu exciting! My friend told me about how her Uncle went on a trip to Maui to learn what it takes to make Poke before opening up Ono Poke!

I’m so sorry, I didn’t take an upclose of the menu and just have this… 😦

We attended the grand opening after signing up for the early access event. A little bit underwhelming actually… and they didn’t really check our ticket actually haha. But they did do a pre-stamped card for each bowl you purchased! :D.

Presentation:                    4/5

Loving the pops of colour, the cute little crispy crabs they put in as well. Looking at it just makes your mouth water! I just wish I could see more of the actual fish or meat in there!

Health:                                  4/5

I like how they get their fish from ocean-wise sources. Their Atlantic Salmon are from Canadian farms and the other fish are from Canadian distributors that bring in ocean-wise fish or fish under sustainability programs. Hooray for keeping business back at home~

Overall, you get protein, carbs, veges. I think this is a good meal to not have to feel bad about after eating it 🙂 If you’re really nervous about it being unhealthy just don’t order the creamier sauces and take out the fried crab-shaped puff…chips? (But they’re so cute… are you sure you want to do that?! :p)

Atmosphere/location: 4.5/5

This place has an indoor and outdoor area to sit! It’s a bit small but it can still fit around 15 people give-or-take. There’s 3 small tables outside if I remember correctly.

Overall, I love the feeling this place gives, it’s bright and modern feeling!

I also like how it’s located in downtown on the street where it’s really nice to walk around with other restaurants and markets nearby. But… parking!! Still have yet to figure out the best spots to park to get here.

Cost:                                  3.5/5

Overall, I’d say it’s average. I find the fish tastes a lot better here than Splash Poke, a lot fresher. We all got larges, and trust me, it’s more than enough to fill you up!

Uncle Tom’s Surf Poke

Frankly, we all agreed this was the best tasting poke bowl out of the ones we had. We’re pretty sure it had to do with the ahi tuna and aioli combination hehe. I think they do a very good job in rice to vegetables to fish ratios here!

Ono Poke: No, I didn’t mistakenly type the name of the place :p.

This wasn’t really our kind of poke bowl… but for those who like a healthier bowl option I’d say this contains a pretty good mix of that! (Seaweed, macadamia nuts, red cabbage, daikon, carrot, cilantro)

The Twitch in Tuna:

My absolute weakness is any menu item that has pineapples and mangos. So it was a no brainer that I was going to choose this. This was not bad (still like Uncle Tom’s better), I think it needed some more of that citrus ponzu to add more of an umph to the flavours.

Service:                              3.5/5
The service was average. Once they call your order you go up to the front to grab your food back to the tables. I wish they would be a bit more helpful when you inquire about the ingredients they’re putting in or their menu in general.
