- Tuna Crudo ($19.20)
Sorry this takes up so much room, but wanted to show you the menu! Not the greatest quality…
Definitely my favourite place for brunch in Calgary by far! Blend of healthy with a bit of a guilty pleasure kind of meal 😉 This place has DUCK FAT FRIED FRIES omgosh.

We decided to eat here super last minute. But luckily by the time we arrived the traffic went down so we didn’t have to wait long for a table. You would normally have to reserve to eat here as it can get ridicously busy. But it just means it’s a good place to go! But luckily, they’ve also partnered with No Wait. An app that lets you not only put in a reservation, but lets you see the waittimes as well.

The colours on the plate are amazing (yes I snuck some looks at other table orders ><). Not to mention the little details in arrangement of the dishes. They definitely know what will make it look appetizing!

I like how they post up where they get their ingredients from inside the restaurant! Lots of locally-sourced food that they bring in.
They have many dishes that come with fruit and salads– if you choose those. The other options probably wouldn’t be as healthy with the creamy and butter sauces.
One thing that’s interesting is that they state they use organic duck fat to fry some of their food such as the waffle-fries. Many restaurants are using it not as because it tastes good but as an alternative to unhealthier fats such as pork fat, butter and beef fat. While it is a little bit better in terms of more unsaturated fats than those alternatives, definitely eat in moderation guys!

Atmosphere/location: 4.5/5
This is situated in downtown so it’s convenient to walk to, not sure about parking though.
I love the atmosphere inside. It’s fun and playful with different mediums for fixtures and art. The have a creative way in how they designed the layout and utilized the space. They were even able to create more intimate settings with the small space they had. Below you can see how Melissa and I sat in a cutely designed egg space.

It’s a tad pricier than eating at Cora’s or other brunch places. But I do believe it is more justified with some of the ingredients they’re using and especially locally-sourced. Plus, if you’re not a big eater in the morning one dish to split between two people is just enough!
Taste: 5/5
Tuna Crudo

I cannot even begin to describe the flavours in here. I think Melissa would agree with me. I must say the ahi tuna provided a nice break in between all the creamy sauces and starches. Or else I don’t think I could’ve eaten as much as I did. The ahi tuna isn’t the freshest or best that I’ve had, but it’s much better than other restaurants I’ve went to for dinner for it.
If you are sensitive to the taste of cilantro, you don’t have to worry about this dish. I know it says it has cilantro crema (this is usually sauce where you would use Greek yoghurt or sour cream with some lime and cilantro leaves). But I truly couldn’t really taste much of it at all. The sauce works really well with the duck-fat waffle-fries.
The pommes guafrette they mention in the ingredients basically means waffle fries. The pommes gaufrette is thicker to have a nice crisp outside and a soft potato bite inside.
This dish is topped off with some perfectly poached eggs and edible flowers. Voila!
Service: Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 3.7/5
The service was friendly, they were also very busy so they didn’t have as much time to spend attending to each table. But things were quite efficient and fast.
I need to find more places in Calgary! Looking for recommendations!
